The nails

Nails are fixed to the fingers, we use them, we make them prettier. Nevertheless, they're one of the parts of the body we cut and reject. Once they're set apart from our body, the relationship we have with them changes radically. I use this material that can be perceived sometimes as repugnant and I transform it to make a precious metal piece (gold and silver). The piece is activated by a performance.

Performance protocol:

During the whole performance the holder must remain with a humble, modest spirit. He must remain silent because the interaction is carried out only by gestures.

Standing up in the space, with his arms in a vertical position and his hands clenched containing the nails, the gold nails in one hand and the silver nails in the other, the holder looks forward.

1. After the arrival of thedience, the holder raises his forearm up to a horizontal position as in a giving position and remains still for about one minute.

2. Maintaining this positiohe moves slowly towards the audience.

3. Once in front of the audience he looks down to his hands clenched.

4. He slowly opens his hands and approaches them to the audience keeping his look fixed on the nails.

5. He stays in front of the audience for a moment enough to allow them to look at the nails and touch them if they feel like it.

6. Once the interaction ends, he clenches his hands again, looks forward and goes back to the initial position to start all over again.
