To the west
Lorena Díaz in collaboration with Michelle Lozano and Gustavo Sánchez Velandia
Based on Alouette, a popular song for children, À l'ouest-te is a performance. An actress, a philosopher and an artist from Colombia gather together in a reflection about migration and the immersion in the French context. The memories of our country - Colombia - the eternal return and self-construction in another territory are the landmarks that make this piece possible.
Description:
A woman discovers a space. Gradually, as she interacts with people, she goes to a stool. On either side of the stool there is a rubber band of 10 meters length that ends attached to a crank -creating an installation that suggests a triangle, with the stool and the two rubber bands. Once this woman sits, a metamorphosis occurs. Using the rubber bands, she combs her hair and makes two pigtails. Then, a man and a woman, dressed in gray enter this space to take each crank. First they pull the rubber bands to their maximum tension and then they start singing À l'ouest-te. When the lyrics are: I will cut off your head, and the head (bis), they pull one more time. The rubber bands free the woman’s hair. The image is completed.
CHORUS:
In the west, nice alouette lark
In the west, I will cut you alouette (bis)
I will cut you the legs
And the legs, and the legs
In the west, alouette
CHORUS
I will cut you the wings
And the wings, and the wings
And the legs, and the legs
In the west, alouette
CHORUS
I will cut you the bill
And the bill, and the bill
And the wings, and the wings
In the west, alouette
CHORUS
I will cut you the head
And the head, and the head
And the bill, and the bill
In the west, alouette
