And they hold hands in a circle is a performance about language mechanization in public places. I use a childhood game, 'Ring around the rosie' but I change the rules. Instead of singing and turning around, players must cross each other, repeating a polite word used in everyday life, parrot-fashion. These words are used by people in order to recognize each other. This is a way to question courtesy rules and polite behavior. The image evokes a molecule that contracts and expands. The participants symbolize the atoms of the molecule. The low angle shot allows to emphasize the contraction and expansion movements.
